BIG news for Android users, as Epic Games has announced today that the Fortnite Beta will be rolled out to selected Android phones this week, with a wider Android Beta to follow in the coming days.

Lucky users of Samsung Galaxy devices will be the first to get invites for the Beta, starting today. In addition to this, anyone who purchases the new Samsung Note 9 and Galaxy Tab will get access to the new Galaxy outfit (it wouldn’t be an Epic Games collaboration without the exclusive outfit, would it?). You can head over here for a peek at the outfit and even more importantly, a full breakdown of all the android devices that Fortnite will be rolled out to.
Epic Games will be rolling out Beta access to other Android devices over the next few days so if you are interested and want to be invited, go and sign up over at Fortnite.com/Android. You will not be able to download it from the Google Play Store, so just head to the website.
This also means that Fornite will be playable on all major platforms, supporting Cross Play and Cross Progression on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Mac, PC, iOS and now, Android. That’s a massive feat and Epic Games have an astonishing amount to be proud of.
If you don’t know much about Epic Games, I’m here to inform you. They were founded in 1991 in Potomac, Maryland by Tim Sweeney. Fun fact, the company ran under two names prior to Epic Games; Potomac Computer Systems and Epic MegaGames (I know right?). They changed names again shortly after Epic MegaGames released the first game in the Unreal series, supported by their very own, Unreal Engine.
From there, the company has grown exponentially. Outside of Fortnite, Epic Games created the Gears Of War series which is such a beloved series by many gamers. They also created an iOS game called Infinity Blade which was the fastest grossing app released on iOS at the time (2010). Shadow Complex is another critically acclaimed game of theirs, which got remastered for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac back in 2016.
