Back in June 2018, Bethesda released a short announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6. Since this time, details have been very thin, with Todd Howard stating in June 2019 that “I think everyone should be very patient”. In a recent tweet, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s SVP of Global Marketing/Communications suggested that the title could be years away, and Bethesda was prioritising Starfield, one of its other projects.
Starfield is a sci-fi title which also has no set release date, but is confirmed to be launching on the next generation of consoles. Both the Xbox Series X and PS5 have been confirmed for a holiday 2020 release. Players who were hoping for better news on the next Elder Scrolls title will no doubt be disappointed, but Bethesda may decide to tide them over with another re-release of Skyrim.
