Although it doesn’t have the same level of worldwide appeal as a game like FIFA, there is still a significant amount of interest in who will get the honour of appearing on the cover of WWE’s yearly foray into the world of video games. Although the game didn’t make an appearance at E3, not even amongst Microsoft’s 50 titles from a variety of genres, it’s pretty safe to assume the game is coming out towards the end of 2018. WWE 2K18 had one of the companies biggest draws, Seth Rollins, on the cover and even made wrestling legend, Olympic gold medallist and Hall of Famer Kurt Angle available as a pre-order bonus.
According to website Pro Wrestling Sheet, a commercial was shot last week for the latest iteration in the WWE 2K series and, if true, would confirm that AJ Styles will be on the front of everyone’s game boxes, whilst Ronda Rousey is available as a pre-order bonus. Although it is just a rumour at this time, this does make sense. Ronda Rousey is a huge draw for the franchise, after completing her move away from the UFC following two fairly horrendous defeats. In addition, there will also be an “unexpected legend” making an appearance in one way or another.
In terms of the advertising itself it looks as though Rey Mysterio and, childhood hero of mine, Jeff Hardy will be playing a significant role. This is in spite of the fact that Mysterio has not made a WWE appearance since the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV event held in Saudi Arabia back in April. The official announcement should happen tomorrow, so you won’t have to wait long to find out the veracity of this article.
WWE 2K19 will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at some point in 2018, most likely October.
