Those who follow the frequent announcements of battle royale games, or those who regularly watch different streams on Twitch, will have probably come across Ring of Elysium, Tencent Games’ free-to-play answer to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. RoE’s slightly different take on the battle royale formula has players fight in a snowy, mountainous region, where they have the aid of gliders, snowboards and similar transport methods to help navigate the map. Instead of being the last person standing, players must escape death from an impending blizzard by climbing into a rescue helicopter that has 4 seats, allowing up to 4 players to win each game.
RoE entered early access for PC users on September 19th for US and September 20th for AS, but has thus far been unavailable for European players, as Tencent were required to go through a GDPR process in order to be able to launch the game in that region. Many players have been taking to the game’s Twitter feed and Steam threads to chase up for news about the launch of the EU servers, and through an unusually cryptic Twitter post, they may finally have their answer. On November 15th, a post was made stating that the EU servers would be launching, with a picture captioned with the words “Two Weeks”. Just a few days later, on November 19th, a morse code message was posted for players to try and decipher.
Players responded to the tweet with their answers, and posted the deciphered message to the game’s subreddit. The message read “NOVEMBER23EUROPE”, which more than likely means the recently announced EU servers will be launching on this date. It is also possible that as the previous announcement read “Two Weeks”, that a release date will be announced on the 23rd, rather than this day being the launch day. Regardless, it won’t be long before European players will be able take to the snow and gear up to escape the danger of the blizzard.
