Valve, who in recent years have set their efforts on selling games rather than making them, is returning to the Half-Life franchise for the first time in over a decade with the unveiling of a new VR title known as Half-Life: Alyx. The new title was announced via a tweet on a brand new Twitter handle @valvesoftware on Monday, just a few days after Half-Life 2’s 15th Anniversary.
According to the tweet, Valve is set to unveil the title on Thursday at 10am Pacific time. Unsurprisingly, rumours are flying around the internet of what the game might entail. The most plausible of these is that, judging by the title, the game will explore the backstory of Alyx Vance, who featured heavily in Half-Life 2 and the follow up episodic releases. It’s no Half-Life 3, but the fact that Valve is revisiting a hit franchise after years is certainly something to be excited about.
