The long awaited final season of the critically acclaimed Telltale’s The Walking Dead series has been given a release date, and fans haven’t got too long to wait. The conclusion to the long running saga of Clementine is due to come out on August 14th, but it may appear significantly different from previous entries in the saga.
Boasting a new “over the shoulder” camera setup, and something known as the “graphic black” art-style which as of now hasn’t been detailed further, Telltale is promising a new experience to the one players of the previous games in the series may have had before. The developer’s official promo description of the game is as follows:
“After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends.”
For those of you who love Telltale games but have struggled to get behind The Walking Dead, there have been further promises of sequels from the developer. The Wolf Among Us, an alternative foray into the land of make-believe creatures, has had a second season confirmed, although after a sequence of delays it looks as though it won’t be hitting the shelves until 2019.
The Walking Dead’s final outing is available for pre-order from June 8th and, for console players, the purchase of the game entitles the customer to every season released up to this point. At $20 it seems a reasonable purchase, and with the consideration of a further 10% off when ordered via Steam or GOG, it almost becomes a necessity.
