Prior to the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 at the end of October, fans were told that the beta for Red Dead Online would launch at the end of November, and Rockstar is making it clear: this is a beta, not a demo. In regards to the decision to label this launch as a beta, a Rockstar representative said the beta will, “deal with the inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale.” The developer is also asking for assistance from its community to report problems and to have a voice to shape the future of the experience.
Most of Red Dead Online remains a mystery still, but there are couple new details surfacing. Firstly, you will be able to create your own custom character, play solo or form posses, and take on missions and gang hideouts. The game will be evolving as well, with consistent updates to the game to add new content. Previously, Rockstar has stated that the game will build upon the online features found in the original Red Dead Redemption game.
Access to Red Dead Online is free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
